Wizard World Portland 2019 was home to some excellent cosplay. It was an event that featured many characters such as ones from DC Comics ranging to Bob’s Burgers. With so many great cosplays going on, here are a few that stood out among the rest.

First, we have this group cosplaying as Daenerys Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons, from HBO’s Game of ThronesWhat really stood out in this cosplay was how three real-life reptiles were transformed into Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion. Each one has their own pair of wings and leash attached. It’s a really well-done costume with a great group effort behind it.

Next, is Kayliegh Melzer and her portrayal of Baymax from Disney’s Big Hero 6. This is a fully inflatable recreation and is fairly huge in person. Seeing the giant robot sneaking up on people and causing them to jump was a true highlight. How this cosplay stood out from the sea of convention goers is due to the big personality inside the suit. Much like the animated character, Melzer showed off a charismatic charm that fit what was being worn. Baymax was one of the more memorable cosplays from Wizard World this year.

Finally, we have the PDX Sanderson Sisters showing off the trio from the film, Hocus Pocus. Sara King, Signe Larsen, and Autumn Hansen are diehard fans of the Halloween movie and were even invited to attend Disney Freeform’s 25th Anniversary event celebrating the initial release. The group puts a lot of attention to detail in their costumes and have spent hundreds of hours putting them together. On top of this, the girls are fully in-character and can easily be mistaken as the real Winifred, Mary, and Sarah Sanderson with all their mannerisms. The group can be found on Facebook and Instagram for those that wish to stay up to date with their latest appearances.

It’s a fantastic environment and even the organizers recognize this with their annual costume contest. Seeing all of these outfits brought out a smile in everyone at the event and is sure to happen for next year’s showing.
