Update: It turns out that this was an impersonation of an actual leaker and this information is false. That being said, we are leaving it up because it is actually a good fake and some games plausible. Read at your own discretion.
In November we posted a listing by Grezzo that possibly indicated they were working on an HD Zelda game. As it turns out, this may be true. Nintendo’s E3 2018 lineup has possibly been leaked by an alleged insider who goes by the handle UH9bl/x392, from the fireden.net boards. Now, we want to re-iterate: this is just a rumor. It could very well be completely false with a little bit of truth mixed in. Do not take it at face value.
“Hi guys ! Today I’m working the setup for E3 2018 at Los Angeles and I already received installation instructions from Nintendo for the physical stands for their consoles/softwares for E3 2018, I don’t know the exact names of the games, I can tell you that there will be no new Nintendo 3DS games for this E3, there will have only Nintendo Switch games, here is what will have (First Party Only for the moment):“
UH9bl/x392 states that he is working on the setup for E3 2018 in Los Angeles and has received installation instructions from Nintendo for the stands for the company’s consoles and software. Note: this only means instructions have gone out, not that anything is being done yet. According to Ghost, the company will exclusively focus on the Nintendo Switch. He then provided a list of first-party games that will be shown. Many of the games we know about and have speculated will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. The biggest surprise though is that an HD remake of Skyward Sword is in development and will be showcased. There will also be a new Luigi’s Mansion game, an ultimate version of the Wii version of Super Smash Bros. with all the DLC content, a new Animal Crossing game, Pikmin 4, Metroid Prime 4, and a brand new horror-genre game from Retro Studios. The full list compiled by UH9bl/x392 is listed below as written.
- Metroid Prime 4
- Pokemon – It’s two versions with the 8th generation.
- Bayonetta 3
- Pikmin 4 – 4th game of the Pikmin series.
- The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD – HD remake of the Wii game.
- Super Mario Maker 2 – It’s a sequel, not just a port.
- Super Smash Bros for Nintendo Switch – The “Ultimate Version ” of Super Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U with new major contents and all DLC included.
- Luigi’s Mansion 3 – To celebrate the 35th anniversary of Luigi, developed by Next Level Games.
- Wario Ware – Surprise! A new Wario Ware game for showcasing Nintendo Switch tech, there will have stands with categories of mini-games with Wario, Mona, Jimmy-T and 9 Volt, developed by Intelligent System.
- Animal Crossing – New game of the Animal Crossing series.
- Fire Emblem – The 16th game of the Fire Emblem series.
- Yoshi – The Yoshi game which has been shown at E3 2017 with his final name and a release for June 2018.
- Mario Party 11 – The 11th game of Mario Party series for also showcasing Nintendo Switch tech, developed by Nd Cube.
- New unknown IP – It’s a horror game developed by Retro Studios.
While we should always take these rumors with a grain of salt, this list is not unfeasable.
The most exciting games that may be shown are Super Smash Bros. and Skyward Sword HD. We all knew that Smash would come eventually, but a Skyward Sword remaster was never a done deal. Many thought it would never happen. If this rumor is correct, it would be an incredibly smart decision and capitalize on the recent popularity of the Zelda series, given Breath of the Wild’s massive success.
As always, this is just a rumor so take it with a grain of salt. But it is a very feasible rumor.
