Every cosplayer loves a good convention, but what happens when there are none? Well, coeurlclaw and hotmomXIV on Twitter decided to make our wishes come true by hosting a server-wide convention Primal Con within FFXIV.
Complete with a maid cafe, studio set, artist alley, stage, and even a ball pit, FFXIV players were given the time of their lives as their WoLs enjoyed a break from saving the world. Unfortunately, there was a no-minions allowed policy so my Palico was unable to join me on this particular adventure.
Hosted at their very own estate, players were lined up hours ahead of time to secure a spot for themselves before the doors opened. Tons of cosplayers from all sorts of fandoms stood together – reminiscent of the good old days of standing in the scorching hot sun for hours on end while wishing the premiere badges weren’t $100 more than the year before and sold out. Thankfully our hosts spared us the pain of our WoLs going broke and allowed everyone to come for the festivities, free of charge!
Linecon 2021, anyone?
Once we got inside, we were met with all sorts of activities! To the right, we had our group of catgirl idols performing some of our favorite songs while the rest of the crowd cheered.
I think we found our #1 fan!
Upstairs, we had a maid cafe for lounging and the occasional performance from the maids themselves.
On the other side of the floor, we had the photo room with some celebrity guests!

Finally, once we got down to the basement, there was the famed artist alley complete with a ball pit! What’s a con without some childish fun?
During this difficult time, there are some gems that make their light known. You just need to be open to seeing them! Thank you very much to the hosts of Primal Con for this wonderful opportunity to experience some nostalgia and make new friends within FFXIV. Perhaps this will encourage others to make their own conventions? Or Square Enix to make some of their own in-game! Please don’t limit it to Tonberry.
