A speedrunner has completed 100% of Breath of the Wild without taking damage. This seems like an impossible feat, considering how difficult the game can be. I don’t even find the game that difficult, but finishing it, at 100% completion no less, without taking damage is unheard of. Yet here we are. The user, @joedun, stated that he did not reload after taking damage; “For those wondering, reloading after i take damage WASNT ALLOWED, thats cheating. This was pure FOCUS and GAMING.”
I was the first person in the world to 100% complete #BreathoftheWild without taking damage. Never again pic.twitter.com/YnIbdQPb8E

Breath of the Wild came out for the Nintendo Switch in March of 2017 as a launch title with the system and since then, various speedrunners and the like have been trying to find unique ways to get through the game as quickly as possible. Although he did take zero-damage and beat the game at 100%, joedun did take advantage of a few exploits within Breath of the Wild, such as moonjumping.
“You see, I failed that run 100+ times, with 3 of those times being 30+ hours in. To keep pushing myself to not give up and not let the game beat me was definitely the hardest.”
The streamer had multiple failed attempts over the course of months until he was able to finish the run. It was trying and it was difficult, but in the end, the result speaks for itself. The record joedun set was finishing Breath of the Wild at 100% completion taking no damage in 31 hours, 58 minutes, and 9 seconds. There’s very little chance that this record will ever be broken, yet anytime soon, considering how difficult it is to take zero damage on a 100% playthrough.
