If reports are to be believed, Horizon Forbidden West has been delayed to 2022. It will be announced at a State of Play presentation in September. The source of the rumor is Jeff Grubb, who first aired the rumor on the podcast GrubbSnax. Grubb stated that the decision was not final as of yet, but Bloomberg employee Jason Schreier corroborated the report, saying that the decision was made some time ago. Schreier, however, had nothing to say regarding the rumored September “State of Play.” Due to the fact that the cat is out of the bag, an announcement may be imminent regarding the game’s delay.
“I’ve heard, not certain, but I’ve heard that something’s coming in September and… I’m trying to debate if I want to be the one to say this… I think ‘that game’ is going to get delayed to 2022.” – Jeff Grubb on Horizon Forbidden West
Sony has delayed the PlayStation exclusive Horizon Forbidden West to the first quarter of 2022, a source tells Bloomberg, confirming a rumor shared by @JeffGrubb yesterday. The latest in the video game industry's cascade of 2021 delays https://t.co/8atrR25oxd

The blow this is to Sony and to the PlayStation 5 cannot be understated. This is a huge blow to their 2021 lineup, which is sparse at best. Horizon Forbidden West was the one exclusive that could have turned everything around, but unfortunately, Sony will have to go without. What does this mean for the PlayStation 5 this year? That’s the million-dollar question. They do have a few timed exclusives, which mean something, but games are sparse right now, as well as systems, and Horizon Forbidden West is coming out for the PlayStation 4 as well. This is a huge loss for Sony and will hurt them infinitely this holiday season.
