Blizzard has come out with their earnings report and has confirmed that Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 will not be releasing this year. The Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 release date is uncertain, but hopefully, the pair of games are releasing in 2022. It is unknown whether or not COVID-19 has anything to do with the release date. During the earnings call, Activision also confirmed that a new Call of Duty will be releasing this year. It was not confirmed whether or not Infinity Ward is developing the title. If they are, the next game in the franchise should be a sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare, which was a return to form and re-invigorated the franchise. Call of Duty: Warzone will continue to be supported, according to Activision, regardless of future installments in the Call of Duty series. The call also confirmed “remastered content”, which could mean a number of things. There have been rumblings of a Diablo 2 remaster, so that may be the next game from Activision Blizzard to receive a makeover. Overwatch has been quite the phenomenon since launching in 2015 and is overdue for a sequel. The last installment in the Diablo franchise was Diablo 3 in 2012, though it came to Xbox One and PlayStation 3 in 2013, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2014, and Nintendo Switch in 2018. Hopefully, the Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 release date is in 2022 because it’s been due for some time now.
