With the company’s latest financial report, Nintendo updated their million-dollar seller list (software.) Among these are not games that have fallen down the top 10 rankings, such as Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive edition. That being said, there are some specular games to be had here, some only their first year of release. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tops the chart, with a whopping 43.35 copies sold. Next up is Animal Crossing: New Horizons. which has sold 37.62 units. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has sold 25.80 million copies since its release, becoming the greatest-selling Zelda game of all time. Followed by Zelda is Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl at 23.90 million sold. The Nintendo Switch continues to dominate/

With all of the talk of acquisitions and mergers in the video game industry, Nintendo simply doesn’t need it; they have made a plethora of high-quality games, and over 100 million units sold by the Switch is nothing to scough at. The fact that most of these games are older games is all you have to know about Nintendo’s philosophy. They’ve made a concerted effort to get new console owners to buy older releases, and it’s paying off.
