Famitsu sales for the week of February 26 have been released. The Nintendo Switch sold a total of 62,531 units in Japan, leading the PlayStation 5, despite the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The PlayStation 5 sold a combined 48,067 units. These include the digital-only option for the PS5. PlayStation sales went up dramatically with the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and we’ll have to see if this is a trend that continues.

On the software side, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth dominated sales, though every other game in the top 10 was on the Nintendo Switch. Rebirth sold over 262,000 copies (and it came out on a Thursday). The next closest game was Mario vs. Donkey Kong with over 14,000 copies sold. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continues to be a cash cow for Nintendo, placing fifth on the list and having sold over 5.7 million copies in Japan alone year-to-date.
