Despite the fact that the 3DS is discontinued, the system is still going strong. Digital sales are thriving, especially Pokemon games, with 10 Pokemon games taking the top 20 spots. The Nintendo 3DS eShop sales for January 21 are as follows.

1. Pokemon Crystal
2. Pokemon Yellow
3. Tomodachi Life
4. Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo
5. Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
6. Pokemon Red
7. Pokemon Gold
8. Pokemon Silver
9. Pokemon Omega Ruby
10. Super Mario Bros. 3
11. Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D
12. Super Mario 3D Land
13. Pokemon Blue
14. Pokemon Alpha Sapphire
15. Pokemon X
16. Zelda: Oracle of Ages
17. Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
18. Rhythm Heaven Megamix
19. Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
20. Pokemon Y

It’s an interesting array of games, with Pokemon dominating with a bit of Zelda and Mario thrown in. The Nintendo 3DS may not be on sale anymore, but it sold so many units that there are so many systems out there. People are still buying games, especially Pokemon, which to be honest is a bit of a surprise. With the series’ 25th anniversary coming up, there’s bound to be a Pokemon title or two in this list that will be remade on the Nintendo Switch (currently Diamond and Pearl have been rumored, but there are rumblings of Silver and Gold.)

The Nintendo 3DS is still going strong and it will be interesting to see how the eShop sales chart evolves from here.
