It’s extremely unfortunate, but it’s become apparent that Attack on Titan: The Final Season will not fully adapt the manga. Or, perhaps it would be more accurate to say that as of right now, the season will not complete the story. With only five episodes left, it simply is not feasible. Before, the season looked like it would adapt up to chapter 122, given the trailer for the Final Season showed scenes from both of those chapters. Now, it seems like it will not get beyond, at most, chapter 117, unless they skip a lot of material. The title of the final episode of the series is “Above and Below”, which is the title of chapter 116. Each episode of the final episodes adapts one or two chapters per episode. The pacing has slowed down a bit, which is a good thing. It means that MAPPA is taking the time to adapt the series properly. The downside is we’re not going to get the full story as it stands right now.

Attack on Titan Chapter 137 Review

There may be a second cour they have not announced yet, but Attack on Titan is going to finish with either a film series or a second part to the final season. There are no other options. Hopefully, it’s the former, as so many people have invested in the anime for so long all over the world. The fact that Attack on Titan: The Final Season will not complete the manga is very sad. If there’s a film series, it will be years before North America, and other territories all over the world, will be able to see the story finished. Not everyone reads the manga. Hopefully, a second cour is announced the day the final season finishes, as it stands right now, “Above and Below” is its final episode.
