Famitsu has posted its hardware sales from 1/24/30-1/30/30. Without surprise, Nintendo again is dominating the console scene in Japan. The Switch OLED has sold 46,947 units, while the original Nintendo Switch model has sold 32,331 units and the Lite has sold 19,800. The PlayStation 5 has sold a measly 21,871 units, with 1,481 opting for the PlayStation 5 Digital Version. This is only approximately 5,000 more units than the Xbox One X sold during this timeframe, as that system sold 1,098 copies. The Series S sold 698 units, while 11 PlayStation 4s sold and 267 New 2DS LL sold.

The Switch OLED saw an uptick in sales, while the PlayStation 5 Digital saw a massive decline. It’s unknown whether or not these are due to the superconductor shortage going on with the global supply chain, which is hindering new consol releases, and is probably the main reason the Nintendo Switch did not have a Pro version of their console come out as originally planned. Regardless, Nintendo continues to dominate the Japanese market and it will be interesting to see how this carries over to the west.
