Famitsu has released the Japanese hardware and software sales for the very first week in March (March 2 through March 8.) On the hardware side, the Nintendo Switch Lite dominated, selling four times as many units as the next system. It’s followed by the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch. The Xbox One family of systems sold less than 100 units combined, a pathetic showing, though not surprising.

  • Switch Lite – 46,161
  • PS4 – 9,584
  • Switch – 4,424
  • PS4 Pro – 4,187
  • New 2DS LL – 1,220
  • New 3DS LL – 77
  • Xbox One S – 60
  • Xbox One X – 29

It’s fascinating that nine of the top 10 best-selling games in Japan for this past week were for the Nintendo Switch. On top of that, several of the games have been out for well over a year or two. Mario Kart 8 DeluxeSuper Smash Bros. UltimateSuper Mario Party, and Splatoon 2 have all been out well over a year and have all sold at least one million copies, with three of the four titles selling over three million copies year-to-date.
