The latest issue of Famitsu has been released and they have unveiled their score for Octopath Traveler. The game received straight nines, an overall 36/40, which is fairly excellent. We recently had time to go hands-on with the full demo of Octopath Traveler on the Nintendo Switch and had nothing but positive things to say about it. One of the wonderful things about Octopath Traveler is that it will have no DLC; it will release as a complete game according to its developers. This is refreshing in a time where games are constantly released in an incomplete state. It is said that the title is around 80-100 hours long, so it is packed to the brim with content.
The art style is charming, the graphics are nostalgic yet crystal sharp, and the story appears to be intriguing. This will be one of the best games on the Nintendo Switch in 2018. Yes, it may be overshadowed by Super Smash Bros. and Pokemon Let’s Go, but Square’s support of the Switch is paramount. The two companies have had their issues with one another, but they have slowly built a successful working relationship.
We cannot wait to get our hands on the final retail version next week. With the imminent success of Octopath Traveler, Nintendo should port the Bravely Default games to Nintendo’s hit console; it makes perfect sense given the nature of Octopath Traveler.
