A trusted source close to the Forza development team has confirmed that Forza Horizon 4 is officially in development. VGCultureHQ has confirmed this source as being completely legitimate and credible, but for obvious reasons, we cannot divulge any more than that. The specifics of the game were not revealed, however, it is clear that this will be the next installment in the series.
Xbox’s hit Forza franchise has lasted through each console that Microsoft has released. Starting with Forza Motorsport on the original Xbox, the series has seen seven installments and three Horizon spinoffs, the most recent installment of these being Forza Motorsport 7 in 2017.
Forza Horizon 3 was released to an extremely captivating reception. In fact, we reviewed it and gave it a 9/10. It is by far the best Forza game of all time, so it makes sense that the next installment would be Forza Horizon 4. Microsoft desperately needs this, as they are so low on original content, especially since many believe Horizon 3 to be one of Xbox’s best exclusives. Horizon 3 even won Best Sports/Racing Game at the 2016 Game Awards.
Horizon 3 was set in Australia, but no hints were left regarding the fourth installment’s location. Speculation has led some to believe that this next game will take place in Japan, which would be riveting, but nothing is confirmed. We will most likely see more details announced at Microsoft’s 2018 E3 press conference. It will be streamed on all major streaming platforms on Sunday, June 10 at 4pm EDT/1pm PDT.
While this is a rumor at this point, we are very confident in our source’s credibility and access to this knowledge. Plus, it makes a lot of sense. Regardless, all will be revealed on June 10, so stay tuned!
