Square Enix’s latest release, Octopath Traveler, has been met with high praise by gamers and critics. It has also been proven to be a major success, so much so that physical copies have sold out across Japan. The PR team for Octopath has issued a statement on Twitter regarding the problem. ３連休で一部品切れのお店が出ているようで申し訳ございません！DL版や、ローソンさんで販売中のダウンロードカードもご検討いただければと思います！#オクトパストラベラー — オクトパストラベラー公式 (@OCTOPATH_PR) July 14, 2018 Translation: “We are sorry that some of the shops are out of stock in the three holidays! You can also consider the DL version and the download card for sale at Lawson!“ Copies may be able to reappear on store shelves after this weekend. Fans are being told to purchase the downloadable version in order to experience the game on time. Octopath Traveler is a turn-based JRPG set in the mythical world of Orsterra. Eight different characters are used to explore the world, each coming with their own story. The game takes inspiration from retro RPGs such as Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI. It utilizes “HD-2D” as its graphics base. Nintendo first showed off Octopath Traveler during the initial Nintendo Switch unveiling. There is currently a three-hour demo available on the Nintendo eShop for any interested. All progress in the demo can be transferred to the main game, as well.
