During the company’s E3 2018 Direct, nearly 45 minutes were dedicated to an in-depth look at the game. Every character that has appeared in previous entries will all be returning, including Metal Gear Solid’s Snake, Pokémon’s Pichu, and Final Fantasy VII’s Cloud. Three new characters were also unveiled for their debut in the series, Inklings from Splatoon, Super Mario’s Peach, and Metroid’s Ridley.
Coinciding with the launch of the game are three new amiibo. Nintendo’s toys-to-life series will be adding Wolf, Inkling Girl, and Ridley to its lineup. The previous line of Smash Bros is planned to be reprinted rather than receiving all new poses. New figures will cost $15.99 while each re-release will be $12.99.
Masahiro Sakurai’s hit fighting game originally released back on the Nintendo 64 to rave reviews. A crossover game filled with Nintendo characters past and present was unthinkable at the time but soon became a reality. The series has expanded to include many gaming icons such as Pac-Man, Mega Man, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releases exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on December 7.
