This is a story that is dear to my heart, as I lived in Wellington, Florida when I was younger.
The next Star Wars film, Star Wars: Episode IX is coming to Wellington, Florida. The Palm Beach town will be the site for a previously undisclosed planet in the Star Wars universe and will reportedly require hundreds of extras. As a former resident of Wellington, I can only imagine the excitement local fans must be feeling. Production is expected to begin no later than spring of next year, with casting calls going out well beforehand. Producers issued a short statement.
“We think that Wellington is a great place to find the hundreds of extras for our alien population and we’re very excited about filming here.”
I was 12-years-old when The Phantom Menace came out and lived in Wellington, Florida. I saw it at the local Wellington theater at least 20 times. I played Trumpet in the Wellington Landings Community Middle School band. We played the music to Star Wars in my final year, including “Duel of the Fates” from Episode I. This is very exciting news for residents of Wellington, Florida and fans, especially children, currently growing up in the area. I only wish this opportunity presented itself when I was growing up there.
