Pokemon Legends Arceus was the surprise announcement by The Pokemon Company yesterday in their “Pokemon Presents” presentation. Everybody expected the Diamond and Pearl remake rumors to finally be confirmed, but they did not expect a brand new, open-world Pokemon game that turns the conventions of the series on its head to be announced. Pokemon Legends Arceus changes the conventions of the series completely. Thanks to translations from a leaked magazine, we have some idea about how that is. Transition between the open world and battle is now seamless. Battles will no longer be traditional turn-based, but Active Time Battle (ATB), which is similar to what Final Fantasy has adopted. It was announced as an action RPG in the “Pokemon Presents” event, so this makes perfect sense. Everything about Pokemon Legends Arceus seems to point to something very special. We don’t have a ton of information on it yet, and the build that they showed is pretty rough, but it could simply be an early build and not the latest build. Or, it could be a build that was built specifically for this presentation and nothing more. Game Freak knows how important this is to the Pokemon franchise and what it means going forward, so it’s doubtful that they would release a product that doesn’t meet the precedent they’ve set for standards. With that being said, here are the amazing screenshots from Pokemon Legends Arceus.
