First Octopath Traveler came to PC, now it’s coming to Xbox Game Pass. Octopath Traveler came out in 2018 for the Nintendo Switch and was exclusive to the console. This is no longer. Although no date has been given, the Square Enix RPG will be coming to Game Pass in the near future. Xbox has been expanding its streaming library, and while Octopath Traveler came out almost three years ago, it’s still a coup for them.

Octopath Traveler is an odd choice though. It’s not a typical Xbox game, and is particularly hard even by JRPG standards. As Xbox is focusing more on subscriptions than console units sold, the more games they have on their streaming service the better for them. Even better for them is that this is a game that was published by Nintendo and was a Switch exclusive. As Xbox continues to expand its streaming service’s library, it will be interesting to see if any more Switch or PlayStation exclusives make their way over to the platform; it isn’t out of the realm of possibility. Octopath Traveler is one of the best JRPGs to come out in years, and the fact that Xbox gamers will get to experience it for the first time is a treat.
