An announcement for a possibly brand-new Tony Hawk Pro Skater game might have potentially leaked. In a recently deleted Facebook post, the band, The Death Set, revealed that they had licensed “5 new songs to Tony Hawk 2020 game.” They also promised fans that they’ll be hearing it “soon.” The news comes as a surprise since there have seemingly been no hints at a Tony Hawk-branded game in the works. Many have gone to question the legitimacy of this post as it violates a possible NDA between the band and the developers. It is unknown whether this is a new installment in the franchise or a potential remaster.
It’s been quite a bit of time since the last Tony Hawk Pro Skater hit consoles. The fifth installment launched in 2015 to mediocre reviews and a bit of controversy behind it. At launch, the game had a seven gigabyte update which was nearly double the size of game itself. This patch seemingly included a majority of the game as without it, fans could only access the Park Editor and Tutorial. In additon to this, fans and critics stated it was a glitchy mess that was nearly unplayable. Prior to that, gamers had to wait 13 years as Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 released in 2002 for PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox.
