Nintendo has revealed that a Super Smash Bros Ultimate livestream is coming soon. The company stated that the game’s director, Masahiro Sakurai, is set to host the livestream and show off new gameplay. This roughly 35 minute stream begins on Thursday, January 16 at 6 am PT/9 am ET. What makes this an exciting announcement is that the fifth DLC character is going to make its debut for fans.

It is unknown which fighter is going to be announced, however that doesn’t mean speculation has not ramped up online. The most popular requests, at the time of writing, are Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Dante from Devil May Cry, and Crash from Crash Bandicoot. There are, in addition to these, some wild cards that have floated around which includes my personal favorite, Phoenix Wright from the Ace Attorney series.
Adding to the speculation is that each DLC character has been a third-party addition. Joker from Persona 5, Hero from Dragon Quest, Banjo-Kazooie from Banjo-Kazooie, and Terry from Fatal Fury were all featured. Each character is diverse and appeals to many different fans from around the world. Sakurai has stated that this may be the biggest roster the series is ever going to see and will continue to receive new fighters. Besides speculation, fans have no idea what to expect come Thursday.
