During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, Nintendo didn’t just announce Skyward Sword HD, but a pair of Skyward Sword Joy-Cons to go along with the fabled title. Skyward Sword HD was announced yesterday during Nintendo’s latest direct, and some fans were thrilled (or not so much) by the announcement. The Joy-Cons are meant to emulate, both in design and function, the Master Sword and Hylian Shield from the Zelda series. As Skyward Sword HD will utilize the motion controls from the original, this will make the experience all the more immersive. The Joy-Cons are beautifully designed, with both the left and right Joy-Cons bearing the respective symbols of the Master Sword and Hylian Shield. Even if not used for Skyward Sword, these Joy-Cons are a must-have for any true Zelda fan, especially one such as myself who is looking for a second pair of Joy-Cons. Only a handful of franchises have received their own Joy-Cons, much less individual games, and The Legend of Zelda just so happens to be one of those franchises. The Joy-Cons will release when Skyward Sword HD does, which is July 16, 2021. Hopefully scalpers don’t eat them up, but Nintendo should have a large enough supply to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Skyward Sword was such a great game, it deserves this treatment.
