On Tuesday, we revealed that the latest update to Super Smash Bros. was imminent. Now, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 6.1.0 is now available. As we stated before, match replays from previous versions of the game will not be compatible with 6.1.0. Here is a way to maintain your replays for repeated viewing before updating the game.
“After the update has been installed, prior video replays that were saved will no longer be watchable. In order to make sure they are still watchable, players will need to convert them to video. To do this, visit the vault, go into replays and then replay data, and then select convert to video. While this isn’t the only change in update 6.1.0, with more details coming upon release, it is the most important.“
An issue with Terry’s move, “Wolfbuster”, has been fixed. Previously, there was a rare glitch where Terry will strike the opposing player and both characters will be unable to move. Version 6.0.0 is not compatible with local wireless play with version 6.0.1. All systems will need to run the same software version. And, of course, version 6.0.1 is required for online play, so make sure to update your system in order to play with friends online.
Nintendo continues to make Super Smash Bros. Ultimate the best experience it can be, even a year or so after its release. Sakurai’s commitment to excellence is admirable, and we cannot wait to see what fighters are featured in the next DLC pack.
