NetherRealm Studios‘ upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 is set to have a story that is the “biggest yet.” This news comes from the official Twitter account for Mortal Kombat, where the statement was made. On top of this, series creator, Ed Boone, has said that the campaign will have multiple endings. Which is something seen from the developer’s previous game, Injustice 2.

Mortal Kombat X also featured multiple endings in its campaign, but with 11 it is unknown how many can be found. The story is planned to pick up immediately after the events of its predecessor. This is by no means a reboot of the franchise, as some may have believed. An official description for the story is as follows:

“Raiden has upset the balance of history with the death of Shinnok. Tired of Earthrealm’s defiance, Kronika, The Keeper of Time will bring order to the universe through any means necessary.”

Many fighters from the series’ past are going to show up, as well. Multiple timelines will converge with many of the characters meeting their younger selves. An official prologue trailer was released showing off Dark Raiden, Kronika, and Shinnok. Take a look below.

Mortal Kombat 11 releases on April 23 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
