October marks a month in gaming where AAA games reign supreme. Heavy hitting titles from long-running franchises are releasing all throughout the month, however, that doesn’t mean indie games won’t be making an appearance. There are still plenty of quality titles hitting the Nintendo Switch throughout the month.
Mark of the Ninja: Remastered
Klei Entertainment’s 2012 stealth game, Mark of the Ninja, is seeing a release on the Nintendo Switch. Originally launching on the Xbox 360, gamers could live out what it actually means to be a ninja. Gameplay is focused around player choice, which in turn, crafts the overall experience. This version also includes the Special Edition DLC and new game plus. Mark of the Ninja: Remastered is out now for $19.99.
Jackbox Party Pack 5
With local multiplayer for up to eight people and five included games, Jackbox Party Pack 5 is sure to save any party. No extra controllers are needed either, tablets, phones, and computers all function as a one. The pop-culture trivia mode, You Don’t Know Jack, returns alongside new ones, such as competitive drawing and freestyle rapping. The hit party game series, Jackbox Party Pack, is poised to launch its latest installment October 17 for $29.99.

Windjammers
A surprise hit among eSports and gamers alike has been Windjammers, which released on the Neo Geo. This 1994 title has grown in prominence over the last year thanks to its release on the PlayStation 4 and Vita. Windjammers is dubbed as a “fast-paced sports arcade game” with plenty of different characters and stages to choose from. The upcoming Nintendo Switch version will also include online multiplayer. DotEmu’s remastered disc-based sports game launches on October 23.
Party Arcade
Gamers looking for a fun party game featuring bowling, cup pong, and air hockey will want to check out Party Arcade. With plenty of games to choose from and tons of unlocks, players can potentially find themselves engulfed in this latest release. The title is set to utilize the Switch’s motion controls for better movement and handling of mini-games. Four-player online local and co-op modes are going to be introduced as well. This sequel to the Game Party franchise on the Nintendo Wii has lots in store. FarSight Studios’ Party Arcade launches on October 23 for $29.99.
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition
Seemingly out of nowhere, Gucamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition had a surprise launch on Monday, October 8. The hit Metroidvania, action-adventure title is set in Mexico and has players take control of a luchador. It’s such a wacky concept, but the gameplay is top notch and is worthy of a playthrough. A sequel was released for the PlayStation 4 earlier this year, with a Nintendo Switch port coming in December. Drinkbox Studios’ Guacamelee! is out now for $14.99.
Crayola Scoot
Scooters, vibrant colors, and insane tricks all culminate into Outright Games’ upcoming Crayola Scoot. Players will be able to create their own character and compete to become a Scooter Legend. Zooming around various arenas and performing combos help define the gameplay. Featuring 12 parks, local multiplayer, and customizable styles, gamers are sure to enjoy this freestyle sports title. Crayola Scoot launches on October 16 for $39.99.
