Starting in June, Minecraft for Nintendo Switch will be receiving the Bedrock update. This allows players to interact with gamers on different platforms via cross-platform play. Switch owners will be able to play with users on Mobile, PC, and Xbox Live. PlayStation 4 will not be available due to Sony’s stance on the topic. The update will be free for all current owners of the Switch version.

Coinciding with this update is a full retail release for Minecraft. A physical copy of the game will hit store shelves later next month. This version will include the Mario mash-up pack, the Better Together Update, in addition to Bedrock. The physical and digital copies will be available on June 21 and both are priced at $29.99.

Minecraft also has plans to release a massive free update, titled Aquatic, later this year. Mojang has stated that all consoles will be receiving the update including PlayStation Vita, Wii U, as well as current-gen. Plans for this are to create a larger and more expansive underwater presence. Dolphins, coral reefs, stingrays, and shipwrecks are just a few of these features to be found.
