Rian Johnson did say he’s love to helm another Star Wars film. Now he’s helming three. It’s been confirmed by Lucasfilm that Rian Johnson is helming a new Star Wars trilogy. It will start production after Episode IX, but it is unknown whether or not the trilogy will take place after Episode IX chronologically speaking, and it will not involve the Skywalker family, which is personally a huge disappointment to me. Star Wars is the Skywalkers. Take them out of the equation and, at least in my mind, it’s not Star Wars anymore. This is Rian Johnson though, so I’m sure he’ll go above and beyond the call of duty.
“separate from the episodic Skywalker saga, Johnson will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored.”
This is all we know at this point. I’m sure it will be fantastic in its own right, I personally didn’t even find Rogue One that good and I have low expectation for Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, another film I have very low expectations for.
Rian Johnson’s iThe Last Jedi releases on Dember 25 and promises to be one of Rian best Fos met.
