Nintendo has taken to the internet to announce that a Pokemon Direct is on the way. The showcase is planned to take place on Thursday, January 9 at 6:30 am PT and 9:30 am ET. Its full length is slated for roughly 20 minutes and is to cover a slew of new Pokemon information. A YouTube link is currently up and will go live once the start time begins. It can be accessed below:

This news comes on the heels of rampant speculation over a Nintendo Direct. Recently, Gamestop added a load of Nintendo Switch SKUs into their internal systems. This is traditionally done right before a Direct in order for fans to pre-order the titles which were announced. Another aspect that contributed to rumors was a tweet by the developer, Atlas, that read, “Please look forward to the follow-up to Shin Megami Tensai V!” These allowed fans to speculate that an official statement from Nintendo was on the way in order to kickstart the new year.

It is currently unknown what the Direct could entail as Pokemon Sword and Shield launched this past November. Information regarding the upcoming Pokemon Home, Pokemon Sleep, and Detective Pikachu 2 could be expected. This is the longest direct the series has received, so there is plenty that might be unveiled.
