The UK software sales for January 24 have been released and are a bit surprising. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been dethroned as the number one selling game in the country. Given the game’s worldwide popularity, one would think it would continue its dominance. Number two isn’t a bad spot to be in though. Newly released Hitman 3 dethroned Animal Crossing, with some shakeups along the way. There are three more Switch games on the list: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, coming in at number three (previously number two), Ring Fit Adventure moved from number 10 to number seven, and Minecraft for the Nintendo Switch dropped to number nine. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarSpider-Man: Miles MoralesGrand Theft Auto 5Just Dance 2021, and Fifa 21 all made the list. Here are the rankings in full.

  1. Hitman 3
  2. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
  3. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
  4. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  5. Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  6. Grand Theft Auto 5
  7. Ring Fit Adventure
  8. Just Dance 2021
  9. Minecraft (Switch)
  10. FIFA 21

It will be interesting to see how the list shapes out in the future, given Nintendo has given no indication of their 2021 plans. This UK software sales list will no doubt evolve as the year goes on, and Nintendo could be in prime shape to dominate as they have been dominating the console market as of late.
