Steins;Gate is one of the greatest visual novels of all time. In turn, it’s one of the greatest anime series’ of all time as well. In a poll from the Japanese publication Famitsu, it was voted as the best adventure game of all time, right ahead of another Spike Chunsoft property, 428: Shibuya Scramble. On February 19, Spike Chunsoft will be releasing Steins;Gate Elite, a version of the visual novel which contains scenes from the anime and brand new animation created specifically for the visual novel by the studio behind the anime series, White Fox. We got to sit in on a panel at Anime Expo 2018 regarding the game and it looks fantastic.

Yesterday, Spike Chunsoft released the story trailer for Steins;Gate Elite and it appears no expense has been spared. It’s even being branded as “playing the anime”, which will appeal to non-visual novel players. There are both anime scenes and new animated scenes in the trailer. The game looks fantastic and we can’t wait to get our hands on it. Steins;Gate Elite will be releasing on both the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch. If you purchase the PS4 version of Steins;Gate Elite, you receive the Steins;Gate Linear Bounded Phenogram as a bonus. If you purchase the Switch version, you receive the 8-Bit ADV Steins;Gate.

Steins;Gate Elite Story Trailer

Although the Steins;Gate 0 anime was somewhat disappointing, hopefully, Elite does well enough and paves a path for 0 to receive the same treatment as its predecessor.
