Square Enix Reveals New Octopath Traveler Details

Alfyn Greengrass

Alfyn Greengrass is a character who prepares medicine, also known as an Apothecary. He is 21-years-old and incredibly hot-headed. When he was a child, he was saved by a traveling apothecary, which seems to be the reason he carried on the trade, as the man gave him medicine free of charge. One of his perks is his ability to overhear conversations in town, gaining valuable information to help your party. He acts as a medic in your party, healing characters and reviving them, and curing status ailments.

Tressa Colozone

Tressa is a merchant and is 18-years-old. Before accompanying her companions on their journey, she lived with her parents, working at their lodge. She was a dreamer, also glancing at the sea thinking about what she wanted to do with her life, but by a twist of fate, a merchant ship appeared on the horizon. Her role in the party is to buy items from NPCs, which allows her to acquire items not available in shops. One of the coolest aspects of Tressa is that she can use money to summon mercenaries to fight in battle for her. Another one of her perks is that she can share BP with other party members and cure her HP and SP.

Gameplay

Defeating enemies in battle will award you job points, which are separate from experience points. Job points allow a player to master a specific role in the party. Apart from jobs, players can equip a battle job, which allows players to equip more equipment, and weapons. Abilities that are unlocked are available on that said character. Another cool aspect is changing jobs changes the look of each character.
