Sony has dropped the teaser trailer for Spider-Man Far From Home, and to say the film looks fantastic is an understatement. The film appears to be a breath of fresh air. Aunt May knows Peter’s identity, the film takes place during Peter’s summer vacation in Europe (he wants nothing to do with his masked persona), and Mysterio appears, fishbowl and all, in the form of Jake Gyllenhaal. This is actually pretty cool, as Gyllenhaal was going to replace Toby Maguire in Spider-Man 2 if the actor didn’t return for the lead role. Peter also dons a variation of the original Spider-Man costume, webbing and all.
Nick Fury interrupts Peter’s vacation and tells him he needs to step up. As each Spider-Man film in conjunction with Marvel features an MCU character, it looks like Nick Fury is up this time. It’s about time the two of them met, as Spider-Man is such a prominent character and, and there may be a connection between Peter’s parents and the S.H.I.E.L.D if they follow previous storylines. We don’t know yet if this takes place before or after Avengers: Endgame, but regardless of that fact, Spider-Man Far From Home promises to be a fun-filled adventure and a breath of fresh air, as the MCU is getting old.
Spider-Man Far From Home releases on July 5, 2018.
