Despite the whining and complaining by a small, select few Zelda fans, Skyward Sword HD has rocketed to the top of the Amazon best-selling video games list, becoming the best-selling video game on the website. Numbers one through four are pre-paid cards, but number five, the first game, is Skyward Sword HD. The next game to appear is Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury at number seven. This just goes to show you that Zelda is still as popular as ever and that Skyward Sword HD is very much highly anticipated, despite some visceral reactions to it by a small group of fans. The game comes out for the Nintendo Switch on July 16 and we couldn’t be more excited, especially given that it is my second-favorite Zelda game of all-time. It has it all; great dungeons, mind-bending puzzles, a fantastic story, and a quest that is one for the ages. Nintendo fans seem to be incredibly excited for the game, despite what the naysayers might say. This is just the first step in celebrating Zelda’s 35th anniversary, even if Nintendo hasn’t directly said it. Rumor has it that Twilight Princess and The Wind Waker will also come out in HD for the Switch, ported from the Wii U. If so, we’ll have three of the best Zelda games in high definition on the Switch in one year. Stay tuned, because the year of Zelda is just beginning.
