WayForward’s Kickstarter-funded, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, has just received a surprise update which adds two new features. The company announced their latest patch notes on the game’s crowdfunding campaign, along with a letter of appreciation, which can be seen below.
“Hi Backers!
At long last, our Kickstarter campaign for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is coming to an end! But before we pack it all up and sail into the sunset, we’d like to present with one final surprise: JAMMIES MODE!
Jammies Mode is our way of saying THANK YOU to everyone who supported this campaign! We hope you’ll accept this gift, along with our warmest and most heartfelt appreciation for funding this project. We would never have made this game if it weren’t for you!
On behalf of our Backers, and with the cooperation of our partners at Xseed, Pqube, and Amuzio, we are launching this free content update today on all platforms, all versions, all over the world, to Backers and non-Backers. In this way we hope to spread your generosity to the next generation of Shantae fans!!
Enjoy your free gift, and please pass the goodwill to others!”
Jammies Mode is the first piece of content released and it brings an all-new storyline to the title. Shantae wants to throw a huge slumber party and everyone is invited. Players must traverse through Sequin Land to hand out invitations to all that cross her path. New abilities and attacks are also available for players to experiment with.
Shantae now also has the new Blaster Master Zero Transformation Dance. This is in collaboration with the indie game Blaster Master Zero since the genie was available to play there as well. Players can turn into Sophia III from the hit game after receiving the Super Revive Dance. The official update trailer can be viewed here.
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is a platformer video game with Metroidvania elements. It is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, PlayStation Vita, and PC.
