Platinum Games have just announced that they plan to explore self-publishing their own titles. Thanks to a partnership with Tencent, they are now able to rely on themselves for publishing their own games. The company revealed on its website that this partnership will not affect their independence. It solely is meant to strengthen their company’s base and expand itself from game development into a new venture. The full statement can be seen below:
“Announcement regarding partnership with Tencent
We would like to announce we have received a capital investment from Tencent Holdings Limited as a basis for partnership. This partnership has no effect on the independence of our company, and we will continue operations under our current corporate structure.
We hope to use this capital to strengthen our foundation as a business and expand from game development into exploring self-publishing. We also hope that this partnership can give us a wider global perspective, while still creating high quality games that stay true to our name.

Platinum Games is responsible for a large range of quality titles. Last year saw the release of Astral Chain which has exceeded the company’s sales expectations. Bayonetta 3 is currently in development with information on it being sparse.
