With the announcement of Final Fantasy VII Remake Interlude for the PlayStation 5, there was also announced a brand new DLC chapter based on the character of Yuffie. While there was speculation that there would be no additional chapters for the Final Fantasy VII Remake, director Tetsuya Nomura just confirmed this in an interview with the Japanese publication Famitsu.

“Due to the [Intergrade] upgrade, it became necessary to separate Episode Yuffie as DLC. However, the original purpose was to make the PS5 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake, not to make DLC. Therefore, there are no [additional] plans for DLC at this time.”

Given how Final Fantasy VII Remake is loaded with content, there is no reason for additional content. The team needs to be focused on the next iteration of the Final Fantasy VII Remake. Hopefully, we don’t have to wait too long and this isn’t a 10-year endeavor between releases before it’s over, which very well may be the case. If it spans multiple consoles, it will cost at least $1,000 to play the entire “game”, which would be a shame. The entry-level price would be too high. That being said, no one can doubt the quality of the game. It’s a faithful recreation of the original and we cannot wait for the next installment in the series.
