The President of Microsoft went on CNBC and expressed interest in bringing Call of Duty to the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo’s hit console has never had a Call of Duty game, and quite frankly, it doesn’t need one. Let’s be honest: Call of Duty isn’t what it once was. Once upon a time it was a fantastic shooter and multiplayer game. Now it’s just regurgitation after regurgitation. Here’s what Brad Smith, President of Microsoft, had to say:
“One of the things we’re being very clear about as we move forward with the regulatory review of this acquisition is that great titles like Call of Duty from Activision Blizzard today, will continue to be available on the Sony PlayStation. We’d like to bring it to Nintendo devices. We’d like to bring the other popular titles that Activision Blizzard has, and ensure that they continue to be available on PlayStation, [and] that they become available on Nintendo.”
Do you want to play a fun shooter on the Switch? Play Splatoon! Splatoon 3’s release is this summer and it looks magnificent. Microsoft may be able to clean Call of Duty up, but it’s too little too late. The damage to the brand has been done. Gamers aren’t going to buy a Nintendo Switch to play Call of Duty.
