Mario sports fans had quite a few surprises during this latest Nintendo Direct. Nintendo announced Mario Strikers: Battle League for the Nintendo Switch. There was a lot of sports content during this Nintendo Direct, which was surprising, but the game looks magnificent and a ton of fun to play. The ironic thing is that Nintendo Switch Sports has soccer as well, but Mario Strikers: Battle League is such a well-known brand that it’s doubtful that it will cut into any sales. The game launches on June 10 (just in time for my birthday!), and is yet another example of Nintendo spacing out their releases. The Nintendo Press site had this to say about the game.

Prepare for Strike, a five-on-five soccer-like sport with no rules – do whatever it takes to win! In this game, you can tackle, use items and activate special shots. Up to eight players – four players on each team – can compete against each other on one Nintendo Switch system.*** In addition to individual matches, online* play will let 20 players join up and compete to become the world’s top club. The main rule in this sport is to rule the field! Mario Strikers: Battle League launches for Nintendo Switch on June 10. Pre-orders begin today in Nintendo eShop.”

This game looks like too much fun. With all the incredible games coming out this year for the Switch, it will be hard to choose what to pick up!
