Miqo’te players make up a large amount of the player-base in Square Enix’s critically acclaimed MMO, Final Fantasy XIV. While most of this populace consists of female characters, there is the occasional male miqo’te as well. Like the other races though, miqo’te have two clans that the player can choose from: Seekers of the Sun and Keepers of the Moon. The former is the most popular among players, with their slit-pupil cat eyes and warm colors, but yet a very small percentage play Keepers. This is why mooncats need more love.
5. Features
Keepers are known for their sharp canines, and what’s more adorable than seeing those little teeth when cats yawn?
They also have these deep eyes with large pupils that just draw you in. Anyone with a cat knows what that looks like.
But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. Eyes and teeth are cute, but who doesn’t love a fluffy tail? Keepers of the Moon are also known for their long tails.
4. The Lore
Phew, where to start? Keepers, being the nocturnal cats they are, are of course going to have a mysterious side to them. While the males are much rarer than their Sun counterparts, these felines raise a lot of questions. Why are they only found in one place? What’s their relationship with other miqo’te? Will the next expansion, which is centered around the moon, delve deeper into their backstories?
3. Cool Color Scheme
Warm colors are always nice to have, something to brighten up both your day and your screen, but cool colors also play a big part! It’s said that cooler colors are associated with calmness and tranquility. Cats are laid back, independent animals, and what’s more, there are a lots of proud owners of grey cats! Eorzea is bright and full of life! But it doesn’t hurt to take it easy once in a while.
2. The Emotes
Okay to be fair, these emotes also apply to all miqo’te, but it’s too adorable not to mention! Depending on the emote, sometimes their ears and tails will move with them. Just like a real cat, they can perch anywhere, and just like a scared cat, their ears will fall back
1. Their Names
You don’t have to adhere by any designated tribe name or title if you want to be lore accurate, unlike Sun Seekers. Go crazy with your first and last name! Though if you decide to play a male, you’d just add an extra syllable to designate his birth order and it’s technically it’s his mother’s name, but no one’s saying you can’t be creative!
Cats are lovable creatures, when they’re not knocking things down in the middle of the night – but hey, that’s what makes them special, right?
Final Fantasy XIV is available for PS4, PS5, and PC, along with a free unlimited trial that includes the very first expansion.
