Fans of Final Fantasy VII have waited long and hard for news to arrive about the highly anticipated remake that was first announced in 2015. During today’s PlayStation State of Play event, we were shown a small glimpse of the game with a trailer for the remake of Final Fantasy VII.
The teaser showcases much of the early game during your first mission, showing off Cloud, Barret, Aerith, and a sneak peek at Sephiroth. We also get a better look at the combat, which has been drastically altered from the original. This time around, the combat looks and feels more like Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy XV, using real-time combat as opposed to the turn-based traditional JRPG style.
At the end of the teaser, we’re informed that more information will be coming in June, presumably around the same time as E3. Many Final Fantasy fans have always held Final Fantasy VII as the greatest within the series, some even calling it the greatest game of all time. The Final Fantasy VII remake has a lot to live up to, and the only thing we can do at this point is to wait and see if Square Enix can manage to capture lightning in a bottle twice.
