The first subtitled trailer for ufotable and Type-Moon’s Fate/stay night Heaven’s Feel has been posted by Aniplex US. The coming attraction runs at about a minute-and-a-half and introduces us to the major characters in the film. It also sets the stage for the Fifth Holy Grail War and the tragic events that are yet to transpire. Sakura and Shirou are the focus of the trailer, as they are the two main protagonists of this route. As a huge fan of Fate/Zero, I would say that Heaven’s Feel follows through on more of Fate/Zero than any other route. In this respect, Heaven’s Feel is the natural follow-up to Fate/Zero in many respects. The film will premiere in North America in Los Angeles on November 3 at the Ace Hotel, and VG Culture HQ will be there to bear witness to this potential masterpiece and review the film. It will thereafter receive a limited theatrical release in the United States.
Heaven’s feel is regarded as the most intricate route in the Fate/stay night visual novel. It’s hard to follow without first seeing or reading the other two routes, though the Fate route isn’t necessary in my opinion. There is a fantastic Unlimited Blade Works anime by ufotable, and though it’s not great, Dean did produce an anime based on the Fate route. Fate/Zero is required viewing for Heaven’s Feel.
The good news is that Fate/Zero and Unlimited Blade Works are both available to watch on Netflix and Crunchyroll, and you have a whole month to binge-watch the series’ before Heaven’s Feel comes to North America.
