Call of Duty 2019 will be a new entry in the Modern Warfare franchise. This has been known to us for quite some time, although we didn’t want to report on it without any corroboration. Well, here you go. It is unknown at this point as to whether this will be a continuation of the Modern Warfare trilogy which propelled Call of Duty to stardom, or whether it will simply piggyback off of previous installment’s success. The title will be called Modern Warfare, not Modern Warfare 4, as we had previously believed. Some say it is a “soft reboot” of the Modern Warfare trilogy, but this isn’t confirmed. Infinity Ward will be involved in its development, and many former IW employees have returned to the company, so there is hope that this could launch a brand new golden era for the series, like the original did.
Call of Duty 2019 is called…
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
I'm not joking.

This is exciting on many fronts. I can speak from personal experience when I say that the original Modern Warfare game is what got me into Call of Duty to begin with. This is Activision going back to its roots, and it could prove to be a massive success, especially with those disillusioned with the latest direction in the franchise. Most of all, it will in all likelihood have a campaign, which was one of the main complaints against Black Ops IIII.
