We have predicted that Breath of the Wild 2 would be released during the 2020 holiday season since the game was first unveiled at E3 2019. Now, reliable leaker, Sabi has now come out and revealed that Breath of the Wild 2 is currently planned to release when we predicted: 2020. In order to maximize sales, the game will most likely come out during the holidays. As Sabi says though, when it comes to Zelda games, release dates are tentative. These are only current plans and could change without a moment’s notice.
I would tell you Botw2 is planned to release in 2020, but Zelda release dates are historically delayed, internally or publicly LOL

This makes perfect sense though. Although it should be taken with a grain of salt at this point, Breath of the Wild laid the foundation for Breath of the Wild 2. The assets and the world are still there. It wouldn’t be so different than what they did with Majora’s Mask, minus using Ocarina of Time’s map. All they would have to do is create some new landmarks, mix up the map a little bit, throw in some dungeons, and create a coherent narrative. From what we’ve seen so far, Nintendo already has the story mapped out, as Ganondorf’s return was revealed in the initial trailer.
As we’ve stated many times, Breath of the Wild 2 has the potential to be one of the best Zelda games of all-time. While Breath of the Wild was excellent, it missed the mark on several points, especially the story. Now that Nintendo has the foundation of the game already built, they can focus on those parts that were lackluster in Breath of the Wild. Development for the game was probably started right after Breath of the Wild was finished, and although this is speculation, a 2020 release date seems very plausible.
Sabi, a reliable leaker, only gives this idea, which we’ve maintained from the beginning, even more credence.
