The release date was recently announced for Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch. It will be launching on Nintendo’s hit console on March 9. Now, the file size for the game has been revealed, and it requires a lot of space. Panic Button, who did the ports for Doom Eternal and Rocket League, did the port for Apex Legends, and according to Respawn Entertainment, the company responsible for Apex, Panic Button was able to optimize the game on Switch in a “smart” way without cutting corners. That being said, it takes up quite a bit of space. The Nintendo Switch eShop says that it’s 15.2 gigabytes, but, apparently, it will require 30 gigabytes of free space in order to download.
“Game requires a download of at least 30 GB via a wireless Internet connection. You may also be required to create or link a Nintendo Account. microSD card required (sold separately). Storage requirements may change, visit www.help.ea.com/apex-legends for details.”
The UK page for the game says it’s only 15 gigabytes, but the North American page says it’s 30 gigabytes, and the Nintendo eShop says something else. It’s very confusing. So the download is between 15 and 30 gigabytes. I personally have a 128 GB microSD card, and I’m constantly having to shuffle my space, as it simply isn’t enough anymore (note: I get a lot of games digitally for review; if it were up to me all my games would be physical.) The Apex Legends file size on Nintendo Switch has kind of been revealed, and hopefully, this is clarified soon.
