The sequel to AI: The Somnium Files sequel has been announced. In a very unexpected chain of events, Kotaro Uchikoshi’s cult-thriller is receiving a sequel, nirvanA Initiative. The trailer indicates that the game will be developed by the Zero Escape team, and Uchikoshi himself posted about the game to his Facebook account. The game this time revolves around Miyuki, who was a side character in AI: The Somnium Files and Date’s step-daughter. Aiba is now her partner and she and Aiba are set to tackle a series of murders dubbed the “Half Body Serial Killings.” Here is the premise of the game from Spike Chunsoft PR.

About AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES – nirvanA Initiative
Six years ago, the right half of a corpse was discovered under mysterious circumstances. The left half was never found…until six years later, when it was discovered completely fresh with no signs of decay, as though the victim was alive until just recently. Now, newly-appointed Special Agent Mizuki and her AI partner Aiba are tasked to solve the bizarre Half Body serial killings…

The game will come out in Spring 2022 for Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®4, Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam®. There will also be a special edition of the game, which will come with all sorts of collectibles (this is the norm for Spike Chunsoft.)

  • AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES – nirvanA Initiative
  • Exclusive Good Smile Company POP UP PARADE ~170mm PVC figure of the beautiful AI-Ball “Aiba”
  • SECRET OF THE WORLD: THE DEFIniTIVE ART BOOK featuring concept art and illustrations by Yusuke Kozaki
  • HARMOniOUS DISCORD official soundtrack by returning composer Keisuke Ito

The standard edition goes for $59.99 while the special edition goes for $119.99. With that Aiba statue though, who would pass the SE up? AI: The Somnium Files nirvanA Initiative is one of our most anticipated games of 2022, and the first game was one of our favorites, if not our favorite, game in 2019. Uchikoshi always manages to land it out of the park and this time will be no different.
