Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is getting additional courses via paid DLC, Nintendo announced during their Direct on Wednesday. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is currently the best-selling Nintendo game on the Switch, amassing a total sales number of just over 43 million copies. Nintendo is capitalizing on this by releasing a “booster pack pass”, which will contain a total of 48 courses from previous Mario Kart games. They will be released in waves of eight and will finish releasing in 2023. This is a nice touch, as additional courses in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will give the game even more longevity. It will be available for $24.99 stand-alone, or will be free when purchasing the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. The first courses will be released on March 18, and courses such as Wii Coconut Mall, N64 Choco Mountain and Tour Tokyo Blur will be among the first wave.

This is an incredibly smart idea by Nintendo. I know that I myself have wanted all of the old courses for a very long time, as I’ve been a fan of the series since the beginning. Now, my wish is coming true. Instead of a brand new Mario Kart, they are giving us 48 courses for $24.99! This is a huge bargain.

What retro Mario Kart track would you like to see on the Nintendo Switch?
