This is quite wonderful. After three-plus years, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is finally getting the representation and recognition that it deserves. It doesn’t hurt its cause that Sakurai, the mastermind behind the greatest fighting franchise of all-time, is a huge fan of the game. The announcement of the characters in Smash has caused Xenoblade Chronicles 2 to sell out in Japan, and there’s even renewed interest in the game here in North America. Unfortunately, the game is notoriously difficult to find now, and even getting a copy on eBay is well above retail price. Hopefully, Nintendo does something about that. It’s also wonderful that they chose to include Pyra and Mythra in Smash. Everybody, myself included, expected them to include Rex, the main protagonist, at one point. Pyra and Mythra are a much better fit though, especially given their unique gameplay abilities. Depending on when the release date is for Pyra and Mythra, I’ll have to buy that fighter pack DLC pretty soon!
