Infamous leaker Sabi, who leaked the entirety of E3 2019 and received a cease and desist from Nintendo not to the leak their direct, has said that Breath of the Wild 2 will no longer be released holiday 2020. He states that development is taking longer than expected and its release date has been, internally, pushed back. Technically the game is not delayed, but, it’s not slated to be released this year. In all likelihood, it will be released in 2021, barring any more setbacks.

While a holiday 2020 release window makes perfect sense for Breath of the Wild 2, Nintendo is known for their delays, especially when it comes to Zelda. They are perfectionists and if this means a better game, so be it. This is one of the most anticipated games in the history of the Nintendo Switch, but Nintendo has so many other titles to release that they don’t need to push it for this upcoming holiday season.

Breath of the Wild 2 Release Window Rumor

They have made it a point to release a major first-party title almost every month, and this isn’t going to change anytime soon. With Animal Crossing: New Horizons and others coming soon, as much as we want Zelda, it’s not pertinent that it releases now. If Nintendo needs to take a little more time to make the perfect Legend of Zelda game, so be it.

Regardless of the fact, Breath of the Wild 2 is poised to be one, if not the best Zelda game with the return of Ganondorf. If that means we have to wait a little longer, then so be it.
