The NPD has officially released its sales numbers for the month of June 2018. A big shock to many is that Nintendo’s NES Classic was the top-selling piece of hardware for the month, outselling the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Hardware sales in June were up 52% compared to last year totaling $350 million. With the NES Classic being the top seller, Sony’s PlayStation 4 fell to second place in sales. Microsoft’s Xbox One, however, almost doubled its hardware sales per dollar compared to May. The Nintendo Switch also increased its own numbers by 50%. Analysts suspect that these large hardware sales may have Fortnite to thank due to its presence at E3.
For software, Mario Tennis Aces was the best-selling title for the month, making it the best launch of any tennis game in the US market. Santa Monica Studios’ God of War trailed this in second place. The top 20 best-selling games of the month can be found below.
