The Game of Thrones season 8 premiere window has been revealed, if Maisie Williams is to be believed. While being interviewed by Metro, the star revealed that season 8 will wrap filming at the end of 2018 and will premiere in April 2019.
“We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April. That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes.“
Maisie Williams continued to go into just how much work goes into these episodes, and why they are skipping a 2018 release for the smash television hit that has left audiences around the world captivated.
“There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities.“
Maisie is completely right on this. Although it is excruciating to have to wait almost two years between seasons, the final season of Game of Thrones will be bigger and better than its predecessors. The most important thing is to get these episodes right, and from the sound of it, that’s exactly what the Game of Thrones team plans to do. In the long run, it is the right decision, although it is a bit disappointing.
There’s always catching up on the first seven seasons though in the meantime I suppose?
